Would You Rather? is a conversation starter/party game that asks a question posing a dilemma between two possibly good options, two possibly bad options, or a good or bad option. Answering neither or both is not an option.
QUESTION: Would you rather see Trump/Pence win the upcoming election or Biden/Harris? I honestly don’t feel that many will voice their opinion on this one but if you do, I would love to hear your reason for your choice…and note, your opinion is yours and I will not judge your answer.
My answer: First off, I am not democrat nor republican. Both parties are corrupt in my opinion and I think they keep the country divided. I vote for the person not the party. So, in 2008 I voted for Obama but not in 2012. That year I didn’t vote for president as I didn’t feel there was a good choice and I definitely wasn’t giving Obama my vote a second time!
In 2016 I voted for Trump and I plan to vote for him again. He seems to be truly patriotic and I think he genuinely cares about our country, the people, and our future. He gave up his wealthy life of leisure to fight for us and our country! Look at old clips from interviews 30 years ago and listen to how passionately he talks about what’s wrong and what needs fixed. Sure, he has an ego but you would too if you were raised with a silver spoon in your mouth. I think he’s working hard for us and our country!!! He is not perfect by any means but I think he’s definitely the best choice!!! Don’t hate him, pray for him!
The thoughts of Biden getting elected scares me as much as it did when Trump was running against Clinton. I feel if Biden wins the election that he won’t be in office very long until he is deemed unfit medically then Harris will be our president. If he remains in office I think he will just be a puppet for his handlers. Scary thoughts!!
Now it’s your turn…
I pretty much feel the same way you do; though I do have to say I have been having a harder and harder time voting these past few years as our choices just seem to keep getting slimmer and slimmer. I don’t think Biden would be in office very long at all– I’m actually kind of surprised he’s made it this far. Mentally he doesn’t always seem to be all there.
So true, Joanne, thanks so much for your comment. Good choices are definitely getting slimmer!!
Biden is a stutterer. Many people view his efforts with language as a sign of mental failing. But it’s something he’s done all of his life.
Michelle, your opinion is yours. I said I would not judge your answer, however, I do not agree with it.
I will be voting for Trump in 2020. I voted for him in 2016, but it was more of a vote against Clinton.
I’m amazed at how low the unemployment got, before the virus. I read today that another middle east country has joined in recognizing Israel, sorry I’m not explaining this very well. Yes, he has an ego, but I sure don’t need my president to be sweet and cuddly. I’m not sure if I have ever seen a president hated so much. I remind myself that our Lord is in control.
Holding onto Him, (The Lord, not Trump)
Mary, thanks so much for your comment. We all need to pray for our president.
I voted early. I chose the Pres Trump/VP Pence ticket. I voted for Trump in 2016 as well. He has accomplished so much while having to fight the democrats daily. His ideas for this country align to my own.
Here is a list of why I voted for him again. He recognizes Israel as a sovereign country, and Jerusalem as their capital. He supports law and order, and the law enforcement officers that protect us. He supports our military and passed VA reforms that benefit our Vets. I like that he is bringing endless wars to an end. He is working on bringing peace to the Middle East, so much that he was nominated 4 times by other countries for his work. He works endlessly on winning and signing new trade deals that benefit America. He is committed to ending child trafficking and crimes against humanity. He is pro-life. He brought home many hostages held overseas. He made the UN members pay their fair share. He is exposing corruption that lines the pockets of career politicians. He passed prison reform, invested in Opportunity Zones to help minorities, and black colleges. He has tried to fix our broken immigration laws that encourage human trafficking, and drug smuggling. He wants immigrants to come in legally, and only those that love this country. He believes in freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms.
He may not be a polished politician. He is not perfect. But he is good for this country. I did not vote for his personality. I voted for him for his accomplishments.
Biden stands against everything I believe in. He wants to limit our 2nd amendment rights, he is pro-choice, wants to do away with fossil fuels. Biden has been in government for 47 years and did not accomplish what Trump has done in 47 months. Biden is compromised. I believe Trump is right for America.
You said it all, Sylvia! I nominate your answer to be a blog post! And yes, 47 months vs 47 years…there’s only one obvious choice!!
I would rather Trump/Pence. The reasons are many: pro-life position, leadership with peace accords in Middle East, business acumen that brought our economy to the best place prior to covid, ability to rebuild the economy since covid, fast tracking all we need to try to defeat the grip of the virus, rebuilding the military and assuring we are prepared, Supreme Court nominees, patriotism, support of American values of a decade ago with an eye to the future, positive “can do” outlook, not a politician, etc. I know he is scrappy and not always say things “nicely” and that some question his character, but he has done everything he promised in 2016 that was possible with a Congress that was always opposed to anything, demonstrated leadership, and more. We are not electing a pastor or priest, but a president.
I don’t believe Biden is mentally capable and I do not support his positions. He seems to lie many many times and has for a long time. Additionally, I am very much not in favor of Kamela stepping in to take over for him. Her positions are even more radical and liberal.
Well said, Pam! Like Sylvia, I agree with everything you said!!
I voted for Biden because I cannot vote for a man who has mocked a physically challenged journalist, has dissed the service of a POW, has bragged about sexually assaulting women, called for the execution of 5 black men who were found innocent of murder but remains silent about unarmed black citizens who’ve been killed by police officers. I cannot vote for a man who ordered the violent removal of peaceful protesters so he could have a photo taken of him holding a Bible in the air in front of a church. I cannot vote for a man who led the birther movement against President Obama. I cannot vote for a man who gaslights this country by peddling lies and misinformation, especially as it relates to the covid19 pandemic. I cannot vote for a man who retweeted, “The only good democrat is a dead democrat.” I cannot vote for a man who called people who were carrying Nazi flags and torches and chanting antisemitic and racist rhetoric “fine people”. I cannot vote for a man who embraces our enemies and criticizes our allies regularly and consistently. I cannot vote for a man who threatened to withhold federal assistance to states only because of their opposite party government leadership. I cannot vote for a man who paid off a mistress while he was involved with another mistress and while he was married in order to keep the story out of the news before the election of 2016. I cannot vote for a man who invites foreign interference into our elections. I cannot vote for a man who told Bob Woodward how terrible this pandemic was but did not tell citizens, instead admitting he downplayed it because he didn’t want to create panic. And now more than 225,000 people have died. I cannot vote for a man who mocks people who wear masks, calls medical professionals idiots, etc. I cannot vote for a man who has done more to create a distrust of our institutions, our elections, our press, our democracy than any president in history. I cannot vote for a man who has shown no empathy for the people who have died or the families they’ve left behind during this pandemic or for those who are suffering through both the overwhelming deluge on our healthcare facilities and the economic fallout. I cannot vote for a man who early on in this pandemic praised healthcare workers but now accuses them of lying about cases in order to receive more money. I cannot vote for a man whose behavior if mimicked by our children would land them in a world of trouble. I cannot vote for a man who approved a plan to separate children from their parents at the border as a deterrent and now cannot locate the parents of at least 545 of those children because he had no plan for reunification. I cannot vote for a man who ignored rules about nepotism, employing his daughter and son-in-law in the White House. I cannot vote for a man who promised to divest himself of his companies while serving but has not. I cannot vote for a man who promised to reveal his tax returns but has not. I cannot vote for a man who thinks everything is about him. I truly do not understand how anyone could…..
Cindy, your opinion is yours. I said I would not judge your answer, however, I do not agree with it.
I am voting for Trump. As I read all the comments, I think everyone already explained why, especially Sylvia, so I am not going to repeat myself. I will say however, that my number one reason I’m voting for Trump is the sanctity of human life. I would never, ever vote for any candidate that was not pro-life. Secondly, I love how he has been a friend of Israel. Obama (and Biden was a part of that administration) was not a friend of Israel and he treated Benjamin Netanyahu terribly and turned his back on him by abstaining from voting at the UN on the last days of his administration (first time in US history that ever happened). The Bible says that He will bless those who bless Israel and whoever dishonors Israel he will curse (Genesis 12:3). It is my personal belief that the Obama/Clinton 2016 humiliating defeat was the result of that administration dishonoring Israel.
Amy, so so true, everything you said!
I’m a proud democrat. My vote is with Biden because I always vote for a democrat.
Georgia, thank you for playing along.
As a married gay man with a child, I am scared that the conservative folks that Trump put on the Supreme Court, will hurt my family, as several have already spoken out about making gay marriage illegal again. I believe in an America that offers equal rights to its citizens.
I am also scared that many more Americans will die from the pandemic because the government has not worked to protect its citizens as well as they could have. I will not explain that further, the taped interviews and comments are widely available to back up my statement. Plus, the office specifically designed to guide us through was dismantled.
I feel that the tax cuts for the rich that Trump put forth will ultimately have the same affect that the same tax cuts for the rich that Bush passed , they will cause another recession. The poor and middle class would have spent that money and supported the economy. Trickle down economics has been disproven too many times.
I worry about America as we have turned our back on our allies while cowtowing to Russia and North Korea.
I worry about the relaxation of environmental regulations as our water, air and oceans are already in trouble re pollution.
I see Trump as a divisive President, not as one who acts like he is the President of all the country. We are not blue and red states, we are all Americans.
Plus, when did it become OK to cheat on all your wives and pay off a porn star that you had sex with while your wife was pregnant? My husband and I have been monogamous for 28 years and counting, I would like to think that is a goal for married folks, even if they slip on occasion, but not as a lifestyle.
I do not see Trump supporting the police as he pays almost no taxes, but he sure benefits from their protection over the decades.
I am Jewish. Trump has belittled my people by saying we should vote for him because we love money. He has also publicly stated that he is helping Israel for the Evangelicals who want the rapture to come. The treaties his people have negotiated are great, except for two things. These countries were promised weapons contracts in exchange for the treaties, and these are countries that have no active issues with Israel.
I support the second Amendment as does Biden. If you look at what the NRA used to stand for, you will see that they used to agree that there should be some restrictions, such as mentally ill people should not be able to have guns, and machine guns and others are not covered by that amendment. How many more children have to be murdered (asking the pro-life crowd)?
I adopted an infant that might have been aborted like the three before him if the birth mom had the money. God had a different plan. Making abortions illegal will not stop them, but building more adoption clinics would move us in the right direction. Why isn’t that the goal? And why does pro-life seem to be more about saving a fetus, when we have starving children in America, millions without healthcare (that Trump has done nothing about), why isn’t the government helping those already born?
I knew everything Trump promised in 2016 was a lie, but they were brilliant lies (the amount of lies he has told is in the thousands and can be found on many bi-partisan websites. I hate politicians, and he was not one of them. But instead of draining the swamp, he hired them. Plus, no other President in history has had so many folks working on their behalf arrested. Second place Nixon didn’t even come close.
Whatever your issue was with Obama, and I have several, he took America out of the worst recession we ever had, the one left to him by the last Republican President. The stock market is up, but businesses across America are shutting, travel is down to dangerously low levels, and unemployment is high. But Trump and the Republicans are not even addressing these things. They are now in recess. Why?
Mitch, your opinion is yours. I said I would not judge your answer, however, I do not agree with it.
Hi Dee! I commend your bravery in posting this topic. I feel like I need to match your bravery with my own. Besides, how are we to survive if we can’t discuss our differences? So here it is: I voted for Biden. I sincerely view him as the lesser of two evils. I agree with you that both parties are corrupted by Wall Street and power. So my vote was not so much a vote for Biden, but a vote against Trump. I do not see him the same way you do. Here is what I see:
– he supports white nationalists, and fans the flames of prejudice and bigotry. He has been given the opportunity to disavow white supremacy as recently as the 1st debate and did not do so.
– his handling of the pandemic has been non-existent. Testing and contact tracing are our #1 way to get a handle on this virus, but he has done nothing in that regard. If you want to see where the pandemic has been handled correctly, check out Taiwan and South Korea.
– he is trying to tear apart the affordable care act, leaving millions without health insurance in the midst of a pandemic. I am one of those people who will be screwed if he succeeds.
– asylum seekers: separating children from their parents is just wrong. It’s immoral.
– the number #1 existential threat to the planet is global warming; he disavows it. That is also immoral in my opinion.
Thanks for asking!
Michelle, your opinion is yours. I said I would not judge your answer, however, I do not agree with it.
I understand that you do not agree, but you are certainly welcome to share how you view the specific items I listed, and even more enlightening to the conversation, why you disagree with them. We certainly cannot come together as a nation if we do not understand the reasons why we have differing opinions.
Thanks, Michelle, but you know there’s 2 things people can’t debate nor really discuss – politics and religion. Those two topics get heated really quick. I can’t discuss it here in the comment section right now because there’s too much I want to say and don’t want to miss a valid point. Having fibromyalgia makes it difficult for me get my thoughts straight at times and I need to type it all out, read it to see if it makes sense, then check for typos, etc. With this post I was extra curious why anyone would vote for Biden. Now I’m seeing the reasons by reading the comments. I still don’t agree but I see their whys. I do want to do a blog post about this particular question where I will tell my reasons for voting for Trump and why I disagree with the reasons the Biden supporters voiced.
I understand about fibromyalgia – I have it too.
Not sharing my real email or my blog but I am voting for Joe Biden.
Angie, thanks for playing along.
Hey Dee, a bold and courageous post for sure! I’m not going to add my two cents. But will say I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and the thoughts of others in the comments. This is, perhaps, the most intense would you rather question of 2020!
Thanks, Jed, very intense!!
I promised you I wouldn’t read the comments but I guess I had to. They weren’t inflammatory and most folks explained their opinions well. We need more of that. Bravo for keeping it friendly. I personally, will never online give an answer to political or religious subjects. But I will say I feel very strongly about my opinions. And they are just that… opinions. I found it interesting how people explained their reasoning. And I can see much fact checking, like the rest of the nation, seems to only occur for publications they fall in line with. Don’t 99.9% of us do that? One thing I will say. Is I was floored by some of the positions people took on issues that are black and white. I see now why the nation is divided. And on each side of that divide are very strong feelings. And THAT my friends is what America is about. To stand up for what they believe and LISTEN to each other. No outcome of this election will satisfy everyone. I will share fear. No matter who wins, I am hoping there won’t be a civil war or assignation. Peaceful demonstrations with troublemakers and looters is only half allowed by God and Country. I hope it doesn’t get out of hand.
Thank you for sharing at #OverTheMoon. Pinned and shared. Have a lovely week. I hope to see you at next week’s party too! Please stay safe and healthy. Come party with us at Over The Moon! Catapult your content Over The Moon! @marilyn_lesniak @EclecticRedBarn
Marilyn, thank you for playing along and you’re welcome for hosting the party.
I look at my ballot and say to myself, this is the best that America can come up with.
Anyway, I voted for Biden/Harris. I am not a fan of Biden but as a person of color I can not support a person who panders to white supremacists. Also, I disapprove of him calling people names that he disagrees with, instead of having rational discourse with them. I read his Twitter feeds and I can’t stomach the names he calls people. As a teacher, we are always pushing for people to be nice to each and to listen to those you disagree with (it is ok to agree to disagree) but as one of my students pointed out to me “Why do I have to be nice (in a group discussion) but it is ok for the President to call people names.
I hear Trump talk about Law and Order but I know Kamala Harris does not play when it comes to Law and Order. She is the real deal. I remember when I started teaching a Juvy in SF in 2008 when she was D.A. for the city and the Hall was at its max and most of the detainees had a 707B designation (being tried as an adult) and remained that way until she left in 2011, there wasn’t open air drug use in the city, the main library had library security guards (now they have SF Sheriff’s patrolling the place), 850 Bryant was filled (the country jail) and a lot of people in the city thought she was too hard. Now, 850 is about half-filled and Juvy has like 8 kids and will be closing at the end of 2021 and open-air drug use is common.
Patrick, your opinion is yours. I said I would not judge your answer, however, I do not agree with it.
Undecided still. I know, crazy right. I guess I better make up my mind soon. Running out of time.
Doreen, thanks for playing along.
I voted from Ecuador 2016 for president Trump and I already did it again. What a great president the USA has, wish we had someone as patriotic that loves his country and it’s people, no matter the color, race or religion, or anything else and, who is not even a politician. He works for free and never stops. May God bless him and the USA, for the good of the world´s freedom and peace.
Well said, Fabiola. I agree with everything you said!
Dee, I know that you said answering neither is not an option, however, we do have other options in this election. And my beliefs and opinions do not align at all with either major party candidate. I have not voted since the 1992 presidential election because I am not okay with being forced to choose “the lesser of two evils”. However, we do have choices other than Biden and Trump. We can choose to not vote at all, we can write in a third party, or we can vote for Jo Jorgensen. My values align much more closely with the Libertarian party anyway. I have not yet decided what I am going to do, but I am leaning very much towards Ms. Jorgensen. But I can confidently say that neither Biden nor Trump will be getting my vote. It will be Jorgensen or no one most likely. Thanks for sharing this provocative post and linking with me!
Shelbee, thank you for playing along!
Trump! My #1 issue is protecting life. I don’t understand how anyone can vote in a person that is for infanticide. Both Biden & Harris are fine with killing babies pre-born and born alive at PP.
Trump & Pence:
PEACE in the middle east!
Energy independence & pipelines
Clean Air Act
Clean Water Act (we don’t need to belong to the Paris Accord to help Earth; this Accord hurt the people who do the most for our earth, Americans, while letting the biggest offenders, China & India, off the hook)
Obamacare individual mandate PENALTY is gone!
Signed the Right to try bill: new drugs for terminally-ill patients.
More $ in my husband’s paycheck each month
More $ in our retirement funds
More employment for everyone who wants it
Capitalism (a vote for Biden is a vote for Socialism. Socialism ALWAYS leads to communism.)
Replaced NAFTA with USMCA.
Pro-Israel & moved embassy to Jerusalem, and saved us millions while doing so.
He helps veterans.
The VA Hospital is now running smoothly: VA Choice Act, VA Accountability Act, telehealth svcs, clinics, urgent care.
Increased military funding, but Avoided war.
The border wall helps keep out illegal DRUGS, human trafficking & terrorists. Enabled people to come here legally.
He’s let law enforcement arrest gangs & human traffickers.
First President to fully fund black colleges, instead of making them come back year after year begging for funding.
Withdrew from the Iran Deal.
Gives his paycheck to charity.
Tariffs on China for their abusive trade practices & tech/intellectual property theft.
He loves our country.
He believes that people have freedom of choice, and says he will never lock down our country again.
He is for Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press (and social media), and stands with our 2nd amendment. All of which Biden/Harris seem to be against.
He is the first person to declare the KKK, and antifa, terrorist organizations.
He is the first person to make a law that intentionally hurting an animal is a felony.
Also, for CNN watchers:
He disavowed white supremacy 38 times on video.
He is not dismantling Obamacare – he improved it.
He did not mock a disabled person (video proof refutes that – Brandon Straka can tell you all about that).
Those “peaceful protesters” that were removed had already damaged the church they were removed from.
Handled the pandemic just as well (probably better given they were still partying and calling him names when he closed the border) as any democrat would have done.
Those children at the border in Obama/Biden Cages were not separated from their parents by the Trump admin – they were abandoned by their parents & sent to the US with Coyotes. The majority of parents HAVE been found – but don’t want their kids sent back home. They are now safe from traffickers.
People who want to do away with fossil fuels don’t seem to understand that it takes fossil fuels to make things like electric car batteries. Try doing away with it for yourself in ALL areas – when you are successful, you can talk.
Almost everything Biden voters have listed for being anti-trump is 100% false. Many other complaints have been taken out of context. Research it yourself using Duck Duck Go (not google, which only shows you what they want you to see, like CNN).
Knew all about Hunter’s dealings with foreign countries, and Joe “the big guy” got 10% of the cut (MILLIONS). Joe is compromised.
(The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has been successful in verifying all materials reviewed so far from Hunter’s ex-business partner Tony Bobulinski. Hunter’s laptop has also been verified that it is his and not Russian disinformation. CyberSecuity Expert Robert Graham said that emails sent from Gmail, such as Pozharski’s message to Hunter about meeting his dad [JOE BIDEN], can be “absolutely verified beyond a shadow of a doubt” by testing its contents against the unique DKIM signature found in its metadata.)
When Joe was VP ALL of his negotiations with foreign countries failed – why?
Joe is going to raise our taxes to pay for the crazy Green New Deal and other Socialist/Communist ventures.
The only people associated with Russian $ have been Hillary Clinton & Hunter Biden.
Joe and Kamala believe it’s okay to kill babies.
Joe was the one who did Quid Pro Quo – why don’t you care about that?
Janine, thank you for your informative comment! I so much agree with you!
I am voting for President Trump for re-election. He is the ONLY choice and by the GRACE of God he will win the election. I cannot tell you who I am or give you my well known site address. I am using a disposable email. I cannot afford the backlash of angry readers because my site is my livelihood and income. I agree with everything you said about President Trump and I agree with all of his supporters in the comments. I disagree with all of the Joe Biden supporters and do wish they would just open their eyes. You are very courageous to publish a post such as this. May God bless you.
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I too believe he is the only choice and you’re right, by the grace of God he will win the election!!
I have already voted, and I voted for Biden/Harris. President Trump has said some incredibly awful things while he has been POTUS, both sexist and racist things, and I don’t believe a person like that should be representing and leading our country. I don’t like Biden, but I’d rather him than 4 more years of a racist President who I would not feel safe in a room with.
Catharine, your opinion is yours. I said I would not judge your answer, however, I do not agree with it.
I Agree 100% with what you said. I am a registered Democrat but I voted for Trump in 2016 and will vote for him again. I think he is trying to fix our country. He is by no means perfect but who is? Look at what 8 years of Obama did to this country. He tore this country apart. I had the same thoughts about Joe Biden. He is medically unfit to run this country and would be replaced after a short time in office. Kamala Harris would be president and that would be bad. We would become a socialist country and we don’t want that.
Susan, yes Trump 2020. Thanks for your comment!
Dee, I love the conversation this has stirred. Too often we don’t get good honest conversations. I am on the outside looking in and we keenly follow US politics. It seems obvious who has done the most for the USA and for the world scene. How could anyone vote for the killing of babies?
The election will be over, but we will still feature your post on the next Blogger’s Pit Stop.
Awesome, Kathleen! You are so so right. He’s a peace maker, no doubt! And yes, the murder of innocent babies is horrible, just absolutely horrible!! Thanks so much for letting me know about the feature.
Are people really so brain dead that they are going to vote for Lying Biden? Surely this has to be a joke! Correct? Or are they dems who vote straight ticket? That’s it! I solved the riddle! Trump 2016, Trump 2020 and I say Trump 2024, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You made me smile, Trump 2020 🙂
I agree with you wholeheartedly on not being either fully Democrat or Republican. I am also going to say I have already cast my vote. I respect everyone who has different views than I do and am praying for our country no matter who gets voted in.
Thanks for playing along, Laurie. Yes, we need to pray for our country!
