There is a technology revolution going on and it’s all about virtual reality. No, not gaming. How about shopping? Yes, with virtual reality technology, you can go shopping in a virtual reality store. Doesn’t that sound like fun?
Although US consumers seem to do plenty of online shopping, a recent report said 60% prefer to shop in a local store where they can see, touch, and try merchandise. With virtual reality shopping, retailers are taking notice and hoping consumers will feel like they’re shopping in a brick and mortar store.

Imagine putting on a VR headset and then browsing products as you virtually stroll along the aisles of a VR store. Wouldn’t that be awesome? How about a virtual sales associate to assist you if you have a question about a product or piece of clothing?
eBay and Australian retailer Myer have teamed up and created what is called “The World’s First Virtual Reality Department Store.”
IKEA has launched a “Virtual Reality Kitchen Experience.”
CVS Pharmacy has a virtual mock-up of an actual store.
Retale is getting in on VR shopping too. The premier mobile shopping destination with digital circulars, says its major partners will be signed on to their VR app.
