The movie was interesting but…
Now, here’s my version:
THE MOVIE THEATER
The movie was interesting but I couldn’t stay focused. I had glanced across the row toward the wall just as the lights had dimmed and kept finding myself glancing that way every now and then.
I always insist on going to the top row of seats as I can’t stand the thoughts of someone sitting behind me. I don’t know why, nothing has ever happened to make me feel that way, it just seems to be one of my quirks.
I looked over at my husband. He was definitely into the movie, eyes glued to the large screen as he munched on the tub of buttered popcorn in his lap.
Upon first glancing at the two seats next to the wall by the steps, I saw they were occupied by individuals wearing dark clothing. Nothing wrong with that, right?
Through the movie something seemed to keep me distracted and looking that way. The movie was close to being finished and I had no idea what it was about as I kept looking around at all the people but mostly across the row toward the wall. What on earth was wrong with me? Why did I keep looking that way?
Then it happened! The person in the seat next to the steps looked directly at me! What I saw was unbelievable! I froze, it was like I was in a trance. I couldn’t divert my eyes nor could I turn my head!
The trance was suddenly broken as my husband leaned forward to put the tub of uneaten popcorn on the floor by his feet. Him leaning forward had caused my eyes to lose a momentary fix on the person in that seat.
“We have to get out of here!” I desperately whispered into my husband’s ear.
“What, what’s wrong?”
“I’ll explain later, let’s just go.”
He looked at me and shook his head no. He was too interested in the movie and thought that I was physically ok although I was acting strange. He patted my leg and told me to hang on that it would be over before too long. Then he took my hand, raised it to his lips, kissed my hand then looked at me and smiled.
I took a deep breath and settled back into my seat not daring to glance toward the seats next to the wall.
A few minutes later a teenage girl a few seats away from me got up from her seat and walked in front of us and toward the direction of the two wall seats. As I watched her, she walked right by those two seats, turned and began to go down the steps.
