Have you heard of the Christmas pickle tradition? It sounds fun, especially for children!
I read that some folks in the United States and Canada enjoy this tradition. It is attributed to being originated in Germany as well as being created in the United States in the late 19th century. Do you know for sure?
The tradition follows as an ornamental pickle is hung on the Christmas tree along with the other ornaments. The child that finds the pickle on Christmas morning receives an extra present from Santa and is said to have a year of good fortune!

The picture book tells the story of a mischievous elf named Pickle who learns how to think about others and not just himself. Santa is so impressed with Pickle when Pickle designs a special toy for a little boy, that Santa creates a new Christmas tradition of placing a pickle on the North Pole Christmas tree. The first elf to find it Christmas morning gets a special gift from Santa.
