Now, here’s my version:
LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW
As she looked out the window, she wondered if it was a dream.
“No, I’m wide awake and this is no dream,” Kate said to herself in a hushed voice.
She was awestruck and a bit nervous as she stood gazing out the window at the two little beings in her back yard.
They were about 2 feet tall. Their hair was yellow, not blond but extremely yellow! Eyes bright purple, skin gray, lips blue!
They were dressed in identical jumpsuits that looked metallic. Kate couldn’t make out if they were male or female as she stood there staring at them, watching as they dug a hole in her yard with a tiny shovel.
Just then one of them looked up and fixed their eyes directly on her! She quickly hid behind the curtain as she put her hand over her mouth.
With her heart racing, Kate dared to look again. As she peeked around from behind the curtain, she screamed when she saw both beings with their faces up against the window!
They weren’t tall enough to reach the window but were able to peek inside by hovering above the ground! Her scream startled them and they fell to the ground away from the window.
She had her eyes fixed on them as they did her. No one moved. They were all three still as could be.
The two beings then looked at each other, made hand motions, and then turned to return to their hole digging task.
Kate continued to watch as they put pieces of grass and lumps of dirt into a bag that looked metallic just like their jumpsuits.
A butterfly fluttered by and landed on one of the bags. Kate gasped when she saw one of the beings pick up the butterfly, stuff it into their mouth and eat it!
Once their dirt digging task was completed, they stood and walked over to a bare spot in the yard. Kate, just noticing the area void of grass, recalled that the bare spot had not been there before as the entire lawn was lush with green grass.
As the beings stood still on the bare spot, Kate watched as one of them slightly waved at her then they both slowly dissolved and disappeared.
The end.
