Pet peeve is defined as, according to Dictionary.com: a particular and often continual annoyance.
For more about pet peeves, read: Pet Peeves – Do You Have Any?
Do you enjoy attending link parties? I do! You might refer to them as blog hops, blog parties, link-ups, etc.
They’re fun and easy to join in. You can network with others, find new friends, get inspiration and ideas, and get traffic for your blog. What’s not to love about that?
I have “met” some terrific bloggers from all over the world and have developed a friendship with some of them.
I do have a pet peeve though when it comes to attending certain parties. These are great parties, however my pet peeve is that they use Linky Tools instead of the alternative InLinkz.
Both of these linking services have subscriptions if you want to display thumbnail links. Linky Tools is $2.00 per month, InLinkz is $2.99 per month.
Ok, InLinkz costs more but the service is better in my opinion. It’s fast and performs great, customer service is excellent!
My pet peeve with Linky Tools is that after I put in the URL to my blog post, I then have to copy and paste or type in the title of my post. The same with my name and email if required. Then if you want to add another link, you have to go back to the blog hosting the party and start all over.
InLinkz is different and in a better way. Once you attend a party that uses the InLinkz service, it recalls your email so you don’t have to keep typing it in. You copy and paste your blog post URL into the boxed area and voilà your blog post title appears as well as the main image from your post! If you want to add another link before going back to the blog hosting the party, there is an option to do that too!
Yes, the InLinkz link and image are affiliate links but I not only use the service, I like it and am recommending it.
Now, I understand by me posting this that those using Linky Tools might say or think –> If you don’t like our chosen linking service then don’t attend our parties <– What I would say is this: I hope that Linky Tools will make some changes that will benefit the hosts of these parties as well as their guests.
To be completely fair, there is one thing I like about Linky Tools and that is their Linky List Directory. It has an updated list of link-up parties showing when they start and stop. Maybe that’s an idea I ought to mention to the InLinkz staff.
So, is this a pet peeve of yours too?
Click here to see where I party!
Yes Kristy, most definitely!!!
A big plus to Inlinkz is that the program remembers all your links used until you remove them. If you “add link” on the top right there is a history tab. Click that, and all you need to do to reuse a post for another party is click the image. Everything is filled in! At any time you can remove a previously used link to keep the history tidy. Adding 3 links takes just seconds. No need to jump back to the party and “add link” for your next post.
That’s a good point Marilyn that I didn’t even make, thanks for the reminder!
Thank you for the info and for linking up with #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I’ve shared your post on social media.
You’re welcome, thanks for sharing and co-hosting with us!
I’m fairly new to Link Parties and have only run into InLinkz so far, and it’s very easy to use. Thanks for hosting the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I shared your post on Twitter and Pinterest.
It is very easy to use and takes less time, especially for those of us that like to attend several parties. You’re most welcome, thank you for sharing and co-hosting with us.
Agree!! Thank you for linking up at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I’m sharing your post on social media.
Yes, it’s the best. You’re welcome, thanks for sharing and co-hosting with us.
Like Christie, I am also new to Link Parties. I’ve been very happy with InLinkz so far.
I’ve shared this post on my social media.
I like it the best. Thank you for sharing and co-hosting with us.
I prefer Inlinkz Dee. Thanks for sharing your pet peeve with us at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I’ve shared on social media.
You’re welcome, thanks for sharing and co-hosting with us.
I agree! They need to fix that. After adding my first link, I page back to where you add the URL and then I just have to type in the title but not my email or website for subsequent links.
#BloggingGrandmothersLinkPartyI’ve shared on social media.
Yes, it needs improving for sure.
I’m happy for any InLinkz type link (I didn’t realize you had to pay them to use it!) Whatever you’re using seems to work well Dee.

Yes, InLinkz is the best IMO 🙂
Yes, it really is! I’ve made a note of which blog hops/parties use Linky Tools instead of InLinkz, and in weeks that I’m pressed for time, I deliberately avoid them. In addition to the issues you mention, I’ve also encountered far more bugs on Linky Tools…
Never having hosted a party, I didn’t know there was a price difference. Thanks for clearing up this mystery!!!
I didn’t know about the Linky List directory though – that does sound like a good idea!
Yes Sarah, the directory is the only good thing about it.
I am just thankful that many bloggers are willing to host link parties! However InLinkz is a much faster option for posting since it keeps your history. For those of us with limited time in the evening due to full time jobs, it does make a difference! Hope you have a great week!
I guess I’m too impatient for those parties hosted with Linky Tools.
I agree with you, Dee. InLinkz makes it easy to share and I have experienced the Linky Tools and experienced the same.
Indeed, Debra 🙂
