Have You Watched Long Lost Family?
Have you watched the TV show concerning adoption called Long Lost Family? It airs Sunday nights on TLC. If not, you can watch full episodes here.
The TLC website says: If you are desperate to trace a lost family member and have been searching with no success, the Long Lost Family team would like to hear from you. You can find an email link to contact them here via casting.
Public records are used to find the missing family members as well as Ancestry.com.
The show is hosted by Lisa Joyner and Chris Jacobs who were both adopted. Lisa at age 3 months, Chris at 22 months.
You will see while watching the show that adoption happens for many different reasons.
Most of the episodes that I’ve seen so far seem to have a happy ending with birth parents and children meeting.
Most have been birth moms meeting sons and daughters but one I watched was a birth dad meeting his daughter.
Some have shown couples meeting their children. These couples were teens when the babies were born and placed for adoption. Later on as adults they married.
I’ve only seen one episode where the birth parent was no longer living. A daughter was searching for her birth mom to later find out that the mom had passed away. The daughter did get to meet her biological sibling, an older sister. They both learned later that they had another sister. The 3 sisters then met each other.
All the episodes I’ve watched have shown the adoptive children relaying that they have had a good life with loving parents. There’s only been one so far that hasn’t relayed the same message. This woman seemed very sad about her life with her adoptive family. She was looking for both her birth mom and the daughter she placed for adoption. Her birth mom was found and they were reunited. Her daughter was found as well but didn’t want to meet her.
