Ready? Here’s the prompt:
There was nothing she could do but…
Now, here’s my version:
DOLLAR SIGNS
There was nothing she could do but smile. Was this real? Was she dreaming? Walking into the lottery office, her legs felt weak like they wouldn’t support her. Luckily, her husband was there to aid her.
The thoughts of a multi-million dollar payout was unbelievable for her and her husband. Childhood for them had been middle class. Their current adult life is fortunate enough to afford nice things – their home, vehicles, traveling across the United States and Europe, and money in the bank along with investments. With retirement approaching, they had made two purchases just before the lottery win – a beach house for her that she named Vitamin Sea and a diesel pusher luxury motorhome for him. Isn’t it odd how we put a value on material items?
Now, here is this this huge amount of lottery money!! What to do, what to do! Lots of financial decisions had to be made. The first thing they did was add to the trust funds they’d set up years ago for their two grandbabies. Above all, the grandbabies are their first priorities. The next thing they did was purchase a home for a long time friend of hers who was having financial problems after the death of her husband.
The money is going to make a difference in the lives of so many! They are overly excited and happy to be able to help those less fortunate. They’ve started a charity to help abused and neglected children, the hungry, and the homeless. They also want to open a free clinic for alternative health care with a main focus on cancer treatment.
We’ve all heard that money is the root of all evil but the large jackpot will be able to do so much to help those in need. Has the big win changed their lives any? Materialistically, no. They don’t need the money for themselves. However, it has enriched their lives by making it possible to help others. She’s a very generous person, now she can spread her generosity even further. The state she won in allowed her to claim the prize anonymously, only a select couple of friends and family know about the winnings.
Have you or anyone you know ever won the lottery? What would you do with a lottery jackpot?
