CHANGE THE DATE OF HALLOWEEN – YES OR NO
Oh my gosh, it seems there’s always one silly thing after another coming up. Have you heard about the petition to change the date of Halloween? The 31st of October no longer seems to be a doable day.
Seems they think it would be better held on an evening/night when kids don’t have school the next day.
I went trick or treating as a child and it didn’t matter back then that it might have fallen on a day when there was school the next day. Nor did it matter when my own kids came along.
A petition began back in 2018 by the Halloween and Costume Association to change the date of Halloween to the last Saturday in October. Once that one started, others started similar petitions to keep the date!
This would all be perfect for party, costume, and big candy companies as we know it’s no secret that those companies would all benefit from all the extra sales they’d make! No secret there, right? Yep, the all mighty dollar!!
Instead of going forward with wanting to change the date of Halloween, they’ve now updated their Change.org petition. They now want to add an additional day of festivities by creating the National Trick or Treat Day which will be held on the last Saturday of October. Their reasoning for this is that – It’s time for a safer, longer, and stress free celebration.
In my opinion, more isn’t always better. Do we really need another day for kids to fill up on candy and junk food? I don’t think so. As for the whiny parents who are on board with this idea, I say grow up!!!
What is your opinion on this?
