QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR BLOG
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: GRANDMA HONEY’S HOUSE – A JOURNEY OF OLD FASHIONED GRANDPARENTING IN A MODERN, HIGH TECH WORLD
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: Parkersburg, West Virginia
WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT: I started my blog to write about all grandparenting issues. I think I had planned to write about serious issues and the changing role of grandparents. I do a lot of cooking with my grandchildren, so it seems that my blog has gone in the direction of cooking with kids and recipes that they like.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME FOR YOUR BLOG: My grandchildren call me Grandma Honey or just Honey so that is how I came up with the name. It started about 12 years ago with one of my 2 yr old granddaughters. I use to call her on the phone everyday and would start with “Hi Honey..how is grandma’s girl?” She picked up the phone one day, carried it to her mom and said “Call Honey”..so my name was determined.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING: My true inspiration was that I wanted to share this grandparenting journey with others.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING: I started my blog in August 2014.
WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING OR FRUSTRATING ABOUT BLOGGING: Starting a blog was a challenge I gave myself. I am not very computer savvy, so this has been a real challenge. I have taught myself from videos on the internet. Probably my biggest problem has been learning to format pages and posts. I am also not very good at the photography, but keep trying. I see the other blogs with such beautiful photography.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU BLOG: I try to blog twice a week, but sometimes I only post once a week.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN LINK PARTIES: I do and really enjoy them. On the weeks that I know are busy in my life, I may not do the parties because I don’t feel I should link my posts if I will not have time to visit several of the other blogs.
THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING: The wonderful people that I have met taking this on. I enjoy the challenge of trying to do something and then the feeling of accomplishment that I have when I finally get it right. The struggles are a good brain exercise.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU AS A GRANDMOTHER
WHAT DO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN CALL YOU: Honey or Grandma Honey.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO SEE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN: 2 of my grandchildren live in Colorado and 2 live in North Carolina. The remaining 11 live in WV near me. I see most of them weekly or every 2 weeks. The Colorado ones are usually once a year and North Carolina are about every 6 weeks.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A GRANDMOTHER: The best thing about being a grandmother is watching this new little life growing up. I love being able to help them with anything from needing advice to needing some cookies baked. I love the closeness that I feel with them, passing on our family history, and sharing their special secrets.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO TELL US: Due to a serious illness of my father and some other family issues, I have not been able to work on my blog much the past few months. I am hoping 2018 will be a better year. I would like to improve my blog and maybe make some money from sponsors, but I am not upset at all if that never happens. My thoughts going into creating a grandparent blog is to have a place to pass on information on life and some family recipes to family and friends.
