BLOGGING GRANDMOTHERS SERIES WITH GRAMMY DEE
I recently posted about the Blogging Grandmothers Series and
how I was going to feature some awesome grandmother bloggers.
So, to get the series started, this is a post about
my blog, about me as a grandmother, and about myself.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR BLOG
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: GRAMMY’S GRID – BLOGGING TO AMUSE • INFORM • INSPIRE • AND MAKE YOU LAUGH!
SOCIAL MEDIA: Bloglovin’ • Facebook • Google+ • Instagram • Pinterest • Twitter
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: Alabama.
WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT: Things to amuse, inform, inspire, and make you laugh! (I hope so).
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME FOR YOUR BLOG: My grandbabies call me Grammy, so I knew it had to be called Grammy’s (something). I tried several different names to go along with Grammy’s and at the same time looked for available domains. The Grid just popped into my head one day. I said it out loud…Grammy’s Grid. I immediately loved it! Look at the header image, it’s textured to look like a grid. Cool, huh?
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING: I was inspired as a way to connect with other women my age (50s) as I am no longer able to work due to fibromyalgia. I also felt that a blog might help me with being creative. As a child, I got a typewriter for Christmas one year and began creating short stories, pecking the words out letter by letter, key by key. I didn’t learn to type properly until I was in high school but that didn’t stop me from creating my stories and getting them typed out on paper.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING: Just over a year.
WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING OR FRUSTRATING ABOUT BLOGGING: I find it challenging to concentrate on writing as the fibromyalgia affects my brain. I feel frustrated most of the time as it also affects my body with – aches, pains, and fatigue – just to list a few.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU BLOG: I don’t have a schedule, I blog when I am able.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN LINK PARTIES: Yes, when I am able. I also host 2 of them. The #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty that is exclusively for grandmother bloggers. It is held on the 1st of each month, starting at 12:05 am central (US). My co-hostesses are grandmother bloggers as well. The other party is the #WednesdayAIMLinkParty that is for open for everyone to attend. It is held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 12:05 am central time (US).
THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING: The best thing is “meeting” other bloggers. I have “met” bloggers from all over the world and enjoy their friendship and the opportunity to network with them.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU AS A GRANDMOTHER
WHAT DO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN CALL YOU: Grammy
HOW MANY GRANDCHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: I have 2 precious grandbabies.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO SEE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN: I get to see them quite often in person and multiple times weekly via FaceTime.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A GRANDMOTHER: The best thing is experiencing a love like no other, a love that I didn’t even know was possible. A grandmother blogger friend of mine, Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 and Beyond, featured 6 grandmothers on her blog with their thoughts on The Best Thing About Being a Grandmother. The post is a good read and I was honored to be included.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU
MARRIED, SINGLE, DIVORCED, WIDOWED: I am married to the love of my life.
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: I am the mother of 2 wonderful children.
DO YOU WORK OR ARE YOU RETIRED, WHAT IS OR WAS YOUR PROFESSION: I was a nurse but am no longer able to work due to my illness.
WHAT IS THE BEST AND WORST THING ABOUT GETTING OLDER: The best thing is being lucky enough to have lived as long as I have and to be blessed with my loving husband, wonderful children, and precious grandbabies. The worst is just the fact of getting older.
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY: My grandbabies!! They are the joy in my world. No matter how bad I’m feeling, they can always put a smile on their Grammy’s face.
WHAT 3 WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOU: Honest, generous, and a perfectionist – although I wish I didn’t feel like everything has to be perfect.
WHAT ARE 3 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOU: I’m trying to write my life’s story, I adore sunflowers, and I use to think I could be a comic like Roseanne Barr! Speaking of her…have you heard that the Roseanne TV show is coming back in 2018 for 8 episodes? I read that the original characters – Roseanne, Dan, Jackie, Darlene, DJ, and Becky (both of them) will appear on the show.
HOBBIES: I like working with digital graphics, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitching, scrapbooking, and photography. All of these interest me but most of the time it is difficult to enjoy or actually do any of them due to my illness.
FAV ICE CREAM: Rocky Road
FAV COLD DRINK: Mountain Dew
FAV FOOD: Mexican and ANYTHING chocolate. I’m a chocoholic!
FAV AROMA: The fresh smell of the air after it has rained.
