QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR BLOG
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: CLEARISSA COWARD’S COMMAND CENTER – C4: CREATING IS OUR ELEMENT
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: I currently live in Cary, North Carolina. However, I have lived in several different areas in the states as well as 5 years in Germany.
WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT: I am a lifestyle blogger with an emphasis on organization and crafting. However, I also include recipes and almost anything associated with living a healthy and organized life on a budget.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME FOR YOUR BLOG: I came up with the Command Center as a way to “organize” the different avenues of my site and still maintain only one website. My Avon business is there as well as my blogging and I knew I eventually wanted to sell some of my crafts so I dubbed it the command center. It is a conglomerate of all things I love to share with my friends and family and now my readers.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING: Actually, it was a director at my 9-5. She was always saying how organized I was and when I shared projects I completed in my home or a friend’s home, she was always impressed. She said it so much until I began believing I had something so share. A few months of thinking about it, another friend had a contact who volunteered to build my website for little or nothing and I just felt that was God opening a door for me so I walked through it.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING: The blog has been live for about 2.5 years but I seriously began my blogging journey about a year and a half ago. Although I am still very much in the learning stage, my first year was all about learning what is and is not allowed as far as the legalities are concerned as well as learning what is important for creating a successful blog.
WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING OR FRUSTRATING ABOUT BLOGGING: Finding the time to be consistent. Working a full-time job and staying true to my family and community obligations keeps me busy and also in order to share a project one has to have time to complete the project and then there is the photography side of it. I am not as good at it as I would like to be but I am always trying to improve. Basically, nothing is more difficult than finding the time. In addition, the blogging sphere can be very lonely. At least until you find your tribe and I am not just talking about your readers, but other bloggers with whom you can relate, learn with and from and simply bounce ideas off of.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU BLOG: Uggghhh! I try to get at least one or two out per week, but as I said above, sometimes life gets in the way. I am totally working on becoming more consistent because all seasoned and successful bloggers advise that consistency is the key to keeping your audience engaged.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN LINK PARTIES: Yes I do! I attend several and I enjoy them. Link parties are a great way to meet and get to know other bloggers.
THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING: Having a forum to share my creativity. I love it when a reader says I have inspired them or saved them a few dollars. It feels good to help.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU AS A GRANDMOTHER
WHAT DO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN CALL YOU: They call me MiMi.
HOW MANY GRANDCHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: I have two of my own and one of my husband’s. So, I have three total. I wish I had more children so I could have more grandchildren! They are a joy.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO SEE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN: I see my two at least once a week. My third granddaughter I do not see as often because they live out of town.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A GRANDMOTHER: Oh my, that unconditional love that they give. The look in their eyes when they see me and the hugs and kisses. They are just so content when they are with me and I hope that never changes.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU
MARRIED, SINGLE, DIVORCED, WIDOWED: Married. Actually, my hubs and I have only been married three years. And are still enjoying newlywed bliss.
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: I have one daughter. I did not intend to make her an only child because I am an only child and I found it lonely at times. But God had other ideas and it all turned out well. She is a lovely young woman and I am very proud of her.
DO YOU WORK OR ARE YOU RETIRED, WHAT IS OR WAS YOUR PROFESSION: I am currently still working a nine to five as a project coordinator. But only a little while to go before I call it quits and become one of the retired baby boomers.
WHAT IS THE BEST AND WORST THING ABOUT GETTING OLDER: The best is looking forward to retiring in approximately two years while I am still healthy and able to enjoy doing things I want to do. The worst – the changes in my body. I still take good care of myself and all and I am in good health, thank heavens, but changes are going on that are inevitable and I wish father time would slow down.
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY: Life and my family. I am so grateful for each day I am blessed to see. And then there are those grands. They bring me joy. As does my family. I thank God daily for the people he has placed in my life.
WHAT 3 WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOU: Loyal, relentless (some say stubborn), loving.
WHAT ARE 3 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOU: I cannot read a map and have no sense of direction (thank God for GPS), I am an introvert with an extrovert mentality, and I am an only child and I hate it.
HOBBIES: Crafts, rose gardening, TV, reading (when time permits). Hubs and I also love to travel together.
PETS: Romey the Shih Tzu. He is adorable but there will be no more after him.
FAV ICE CREAM: Breyers Butter Almond
FAV COLD DRINK: Sweet Tea
FAV FOOD: Seafood
FAV AROMA: Lemongrass, I use a burning oil and the fragrance goes through the house.
FAV PERFUME: Night Magic by Avon. It is a soft fragrance with a musk base. I can’t seem to wear anything too flowery. My body chemistry just doesn’t like flowery and loud. When I wear the Night Magic, I can never smell it on myself but others compliment it and that is the signature of a fragrance that suits one’s body chemistry.
FAV AUTHOR: Danielle Steel & Stephen King.
FAV MUSIC: Old School R&B and Jazz.
FAV TV SHOW: Law & Order SVU and Empire.
FAV TV SHOW WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD: Bewitched
WERE YOU A GIRLY GIRL OR A TOMBOY AS A CHILD: Oh I was a girly girl but I would shoot marbles with my boy cousins and I have climbed a tree or two.
SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, OR WINTER: Fall
DO YOU HAVE A TALENT: Putting people at ease.
WHAT TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE: Musician
EARLY BIRD OR NIGHT OWL: Night Owl
HOW DO YOU RELAX: Crafting or watching TV or both.
MOVIES OR BOOKS: Movies of late.
CELL PHONE – APPLE OR ANDROID: Android
CALLING OR TEXTING: Texting but I love talking with my hubs, mother, daughter and grandchildren.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO TELL US: I don’t think my blog is the best fit for someone with a never ending cash flow. I like to work within a budget. Let’s face it, I’ve lived on a budget all of my adult life and I have managed to make a comfortable, cozy and I like to think, pretty home for me and my family. That is what I love to share with my readers. Also, I am about to begin the scariest thing about blogging to me, and that is vlogging. I am so apprehensive, but I am told one must have a YouTube channel to be successful in today’s blogging world. So I am contemplating trying it. Fingers crossed!! As for my family, they are my heartbeat and my joy and I love them very much. It is their support that makes me feel I can do anything.
