QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR BLOG
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: ACROSS THE BOULEVARD – A MOTHER/DAUGHTER CRAFT AND DIY BLOG
SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook • Google+ • Instagram • Pinterest • Twitter
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: Charleston, South Carolina
WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT: Simple Crafts, Thrift Store Find Makeovers, Home Décor with a few recipes sprinkled in.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME FOR YOUR BLOG: My daughter and I decided to start a blog together as a way to share various home décor projects. We tossed around a few different names before deciding on Across the Boulevard. Just before we started the blog, she had moved from one location in the Charleston area to another one. We live on either side of a street that is a boulevard. The name seemed to fall into place.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING: I’ve been doing crafts and easy furniture makeovers for a long time. My daughter, Gloria, enjoys home décor projects, too. We decided that we’d give a blog a try to share our projects with others.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING: Across the Boulevard was created in 2013.
WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING OR FRUSTRATING ABOUT BLOGGING: Over the years, one of the most challenging aspects of blogging has often been keeping up with the seemingly never ending changes behind the scenes of the blog. I still find myself confused at times over how to make sure the SEO is optimized. The most frustrating part for me has been trying to grow the social media presence of the blog.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU BLOG: Most weeks, I have at least one new post in addition to posting two weekly blog link parties. During holiday seasons, the number of posts increases to at least two a week.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN LINK PARTIES: Yes, I participate in a number of parties as well as hosting two each week.
THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING: I love making connections with other bloggers and when someone lets me know that I’ve inspired an idea for them, that’s the very best!
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU AS A GRANDMOTHER
WHAT DO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN CALL YOU: Nana
HOW MANY GRANDCHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: Four – a thirteen year old grandson, a six year old granddaughter, a four year old grandson, and a two year old granddaughter.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO SEE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Not nearly often enough! I see two of them who live in the metro Atlanta area a number of times each year. My other two grandchildren live in California, so it’s rare that we get to see each other. Thank goodness for FaceTime. We use FaceTime at least once a week.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A GRANDMOTHER: It’s so wonderful to watch them growing into their own unique personalities. It’s also heartwarming to see my two sons being wonderful fathers.
