QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR BLOG
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: AMY’S CREATIVE PURSUITS – CREATING BEAUTY IN MY LIFE
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: I live in a small town in Wisconsin.
WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT: I’m a Lifestyle Blogger. I write about my home and garden, travel, my family, arts & crafts, and fashion over fifty.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME FOR YOUR BLOG: I started out strictly as a paper-crafting blogger to share my cards. So the name of my blog reflected my creativity and creative interests. When I changed over to a lifestyle blog, I kept the same name because I thought it still fit. Fashion, gardening, decorating…all still require creativity.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BLOGGING: In the world of paper-crafting there are a lot of link ups and contests which require a blog to link to in order to participate. So I started blogging so I could participate in those activities.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING: A long time! I’m a veteran! I started blogging in 2008.
WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING OR FRUSTRATING ABOUT BLOGGING: The most frustrating thing about blogging is other bloggers who won’t engage with me. Quite often I find bloggers who seem to just want to write posts but not respond to reader comments or visit other blogs. I get frustrated if I comment a lot on someone else’s blog and show them a lot of support and then they completely ignore me. I’m a homemaker, and what I love about blogging the most is reader engagement and I can’t understand why someone bothers to blog if they don’t care to engage in meaningful dialogue with others.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU BLOG: I average about 3 posts a week, but I can blog up to 7 days a week if I have a post that covers that daily topic.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN LINK PARTIES: Yes, absolutely! Link parties are the best way to meet and engage with other bloggers!
THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING: Meeting and engaging with other bloggers/readers. I’m a homemaker and I don’t have a lot of contact with people, so making friends on the web is the next best thing!
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU AS A GRANDMOTHER
WHAT DOES YOUR GRANDCHILD CALL YOU: She is only two months old, so she doesn’t call me anything yet, but I hope she calls me Mamy – M for mother put in front of my name Amy.
HOW MANY GRANDCHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: 1
HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO SEE YOUR GRAND: My children live six hours away from me so I will only get to see my grandchild once a month or less often.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A GRANDMOTHER: I’m a brand new grandmother, so this is a hard one to answer so soon. So far I would say it was the love I have for my granddaughter. I wasn’t expecting to love her so much. I didn’t think I could love a baby as much as my very own baby, but that fell apart the second I held her in my arms.
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU
MARRIED, SINGLE, DIVORCED, WIDOWED: I’ve been married 30 years!
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE: Two. One boy and one girl, plus a son-in-law.
DO YOU WORK OR ARE YOU RETIRED, WHAT IS OR WAS YOUR PROFESSION: I’ve been a homemaker most of my life. I did work full-time for six years when the kids were in college, but I quit because my husband and I were on opposite shifts and we never saw each other.
WHAT IS THE BEST AND WORST THING ABOUT GETTING OLDER: The best thing about getting older is that I no longer sweat the small stuff anymore. Things that use to get me so upset when I was younger doesn’t bother me at all now. I realize what really does and doesn’t matter. The worst thing about getting older is aches and pains. I’ve always exercised and have been fit all my life, so I never thought I’d ever be someone to complain about aches and pains in my fifties…but here I am!
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY: My husband, my cat Jackson, and my children.
WHAT 3 WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOU: Creative, feminine, empathetic.
WHAT ARE 3 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOU: I was in the Army Reserve for six years, I can sing and act, I don’t drink alcohol.
HOBBIES: Paper-crafting, gardening, bird-watching, sewing.
PETS: One cat and one cockatiel.
FAV ICE CREAM: Aldi’s Specially Selected Super Premium Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream. Pure, natural ice cream only made from 5 ingredients!
FAV COLD DRINK: Ice Tea!
FAV FOOD: Anything Mexican or Italian…or a really great salad! I love all the salads at Culver’s! Strawberry Fields salad is my favorite!
FAV AROMA: Vanilla!
FAV PERFUME: I don’t have a favorite. Right now I’m using Victoria’s Secret “Tease” but I also use Bath & Body Works “Champagne Toast” body spray.
FAV AUTHOR: God. The Bible.
FAV MUSIC: I prefer to listen to Christian worship music so I can sing along.
FAV TV SHOW: The Walking Dead. I just love the characters and seeing how the character’s have developed over the years (the ones that lived at least! LOL).
FAV TV SHOW WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD: Hands down The Partridge Family. I was in love with David Cassidy!
WERE YOU A GIRLY GIRL OR A TOMBOY AS A CHILD: Definitely a girly-girl. I remember being teased about that and called a sissy.
SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, OR WINTER: Spring is my favorite. I love seeing everything come to life after our long, cold Wisconsin winters. Summer is a close second for I love to flower garden!
DO YOU HAVE A TALENT: Yes, I can sing and act. I have a minor in Theatre Arts.
WHAT TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE: I don’t know if it’s a talent, but I wouldn’t mind being a bit more athletic. I wish I could swim or I was more flexible.
EARLY BIRD OR NIGHT OWL: Neither. I can’t stay up late…10 or 11 pm is the latest, but I’m not an early riser either. I usually wake up at 7 or 7:30 but have been known to sleep till 8 or 9 am if my body needs it. I don’t set an alarm. I let my body sleep as long as it wants to. I think I’m a person who just requires a lot of sleep.
HOW DO YOU RELAX: I love to watch TV. I can’t sleep at night if I don’t lay down on the couch for a little bit and watch some TV.
MOVIES OR BOOKS: Movies. I never read books anymore, which is really funny because I have a degree in English Literature. I think being forced to read thousands of pages over the years ruined my joy of books.
CELL PHONE – APPLE OR ANDROID: Apple. I have an apple computer, and I find them so easy to use and I love that my computer and phone are both connected.
CALLING OR TEXTING: I definitely prefer texting, unless it’s something that should really just be discussed verbally to avoid any misunderstandings.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO TELL US: I really am so happy I found this group. You gals are just so supportive!
