BLOGGING GRANDMOTHERS SERIES 3 WITH BRENDA FROM PASSIONATELY PUSHING 70
The 3rd blogging grandmother to be featured in the Blogging Grandmothers Series 3 is Brenda.
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: PASSIONATELY PUSHING 70
SOCIAL MEDIA: Pinterest
WHAT MAKES YOU SMILE: Being with my hubby always makes me smile! We are known as the “serial fungoers” and we truly enjoy being together. Other things that make me smile are being around my family and friends, puppies, babies and children, getting feedback that I have touched the life of someone and made a difference for them, planning and taking a vacation, sunshine, flowers, gardening, crafting, hiking, decorating, getting “I love you” text messages, Christmas, girlfriend get aways, hearing good news from family and friends, landing at my home airport after days of traveling, hearing that my plane is on time, finishing a big task, singing along to favorite old songs, dancing, and re-reading a journal my husband wrote to me each day for a year with 365 reasons why he loves me.
YOUR FAV SNACK: Popcorn is what I often turn to. But truth be told, it would be chips and dips. I don’t keep any in the house, however, because I devour them!
WHAT QUOTE APPEALS TO YOU MORE THAN ANY OTHER: Age is not how old you are, but how many years of fun you’ve had.
FUNNY OR SCARY MOVIE: This is a hard one for me because I don’t watch TV and very rarely go to movies. But one movie I love is Mamma Mia. I love the music and the scenery. I hosted a Mamma Mia party last year and set up an outdoor theatre. Everyone had bags of props and we sang and danced around to the songs, yelled out lines from the movie etc. It was one of the most successful parties I have hosted. Mamma Mia 2 was partly filmed at a location we visit and so once again, it became special to me.
POOL, LAKE, OCEAN, OR NONE: The ocean. Definitely. I have trouble relaxing but I instantly relax when I am near the ocean. Always.
DO YOU MONETIZE YOUR BLOG: No.
HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR SPOUSE OR PARTNER: My husband was an actor. I met him when we were cast together in a show. Part of the choreography during a song was that he had to pull my hair back, give me a kiss and “slam” my head on the table. Yep!! After 3 months of that, I decided that I liked that man! However, I was married to someone else. We reunited 3 years later when he and my son ended up in a theatre production again. I was in the midst of a divorce by then. The rest is history!
HOW LONG DO YOU PLAN ON BLOGGING: I’m just getting started with blogging and must admit that I don’t really know what I am doing! I thought it may be a creative social outlet for me because I am alone a lot (I’m alone in hotel rooms approximately 17 days a month, as I travel with my job). However, I find that I have less time for this than I anticipated and I just haven’t found a good niche or direction. I’ll give it another year and see…I need to find a class to take to teach me how to blog. I am very inspired by reading the blogs of the grandma’s posting through this site. But, my little blog does not compare!!
FAV TYPE OF MUSIC: I love almost all kinds of music, but am particularly drawn to music with great lyrics and songs that I can sing along to. I always have music playing, when I can.
DOGS OR CATS: We had a wonderful dog for 14 years but he passed away last year. I still miss him terribly. We also have a cat. I would love to have another dog, but my current lifestyle just doesn’t support this. Instead, we dog sit as much as we can for our grand dog. He is categorized as a Monster Dog because he is already over 100 pounds and he is still a puppy! Yikes! He is part great white pyrenees and is a very sweet, affectionate gentle giant.
IF PAST LIVES ARE REAL, WHAT WAS YOURS: Oh my gosh. That’s a tough one!! Maybe I lived in Scotland, was the head mistress of a school or orphanage and then I ran away with the love of my life, and launched major educational reforms.
ARE YOU AFRAID TO BE ALONE IN YOUR HOUSE: Not at all. Nor am I afraid to be alone in hotel rooms or to dine alone.
DO YOU HAVE ANY RECURRING DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES: No, I do not.
YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY: My earliest memory is of me standing on a chair and looking out the window as my mom got into a car with a suitcase. She was crying and I was crying. I was very upset that she was crying and leaving me and I was with someone that I didn’t know. I now know that she was in labor and was on her way to the hospital to have a baby. I was 3.
DO YOU HAVE A BUCKET LIST? IF SO, WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 THINGS ON IT: Ha-ha! We have had 3 bucket lists but met everything on our lists! Now we are developing a new one. So far, we want to have the financial freedom, good health and time to go live other places for extended amounts of time. We want to keep our current home but experience life in other states or countries. We also want to explore / vacation places where we have never been. For Christmas, we were given a book called Destinations of a Lifetime. I’ve been looking through this and trying to decide what to add to our bucket list.
