Grammy's Grid Presents the Blogging Grandmothers Series 2 with Tracey from A Gram Blog

The 18th blogging grandmother to be featured for the Blogging Grandmothers Series 2 is Tracey.

NAME OF YOUR BLOG: A GRAM BLOG

SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook • Instagram • Pinterest • Twitter

WHAT IS YOUR FAV SAYING: Fair to Middlin.

DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF: Nope.

DOES WISDOM COME WITH AGE: Yes.

WHAT IS ONE THING THAT DRIVES YOU CRAZY: Impatience.

WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP: A writer.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU REALLY LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF: My ability to keep moving forward.

DO YOU HAVE A GREEN THUMB: Nope.

HAVE YOU GONE THRU MENOPAUSE? IF SO, WAS IT HARD TO DEAL WITH: Yes not really after total hysterectomy.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE: Weight.

WHO IS THE ONE PERSON WHO HAS HAD THE GREATEST IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE AND WHY: My father because he taught me that no matter what life hands you, you are able to make something of yourself. He battled alcoholism but quit and remained sober over 30 years. He rebuilt his relationships and family earning respect and became the to-go-to person by the whole family. He started a new career at age 44 in a time when company loyalty was the common way of life. Though he didn’t have a college degree in his field, he helped people become part of the community. Through teaching them the skills needed to earn a living, individuals initially institutionalized were able to meld into society. My father’s old school ways and life lessons lend to my respect for the past, love of family, and belief for tomorrow.

COULD YOU TAKE A VACATION AWAY FROM ALL TECHNOLOGY AND IF SO FOR HOW LONG: Eh, yea a few days.

DO YOU KNIT, CROCHET, OR QUILT: I poke around a knitting loom and plastic canvas embroidery.

ARE YOU EMBRACING OR FIGHTING GRAY HAIR: Both? Lol, I guess fighting it.

IF YOU HAD A TIME MACHINE AND COULD USE IT ONLY ONCE, WOULD YOU VISIT THE FUTURE OR THE PAST AND WHY: Past because I believe there was more respect for life then.

IF A MOVIE WAS MADE OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT ACTRESS WOULD YOU WANT TO PLAY YOU? WOULD THE MOVIE BE AN ACTION FILM, COMEDY, DRAMA, HORROR, ROMANCE, OR SCI-FI: Lucille Ball in a romantic comedy.

HOW OLD DO YOU FEEL: Older than dirt.

WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU OR HAVE YOU GIVEN TO YOUR 18 YEAR OLD GRANDCHILD/GRANDCHILDREN WHEN THEY GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL: To make the most of your momentous ordinary moments. Remember to appreciate the little things, never forget family, and put God first in your life.

Tracey, thank you for letting me feature you! I have a lack of patience so I guess I would drive you crazy! Same as you, no green thumb. Lucille Ball was something else, wasn’t she? I love old reruns of her!

Tracey, it is nice to get to know you better. Trust me, even the flamboyant are sometimes ordinary. And I would venture to say, that their important moments happen mostly during their moments of ordinary living. There is nothing ordinary about being ordinary.

    I enjoyed your read.

Nice to meet you Tracey. I loved your to-the-point responses, especially the practical items you would take with you if you were stranded on an island. I was touched by your father’s story. I agree with Donna’s description–remarkable. Thanks for sharing it with us. I’m going to check out your blog now.

    Thanks Dee for the introduction!
