The 6th blogging grandmother to be featured for the Blogging Grandmothers Series 2 is Sonja.
NAME OF YOUR BLOG: HOLD MAMA’S HAND
WHAT IS YOUR FAV SAYING: My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint. -Erma Bombeck
WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING IN YOUR WALLET OR PURSE: I have a key to my very own room at our high school, the Career Center.
DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF: Yes.
DOES WISDOM COME WITH AGE: I hope so!
WHAT IS ONE THING THAT DRIVES YOU CRAZY: Broken promises…I recruit volunteers, and this is the hardest aspect of the job.
WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP: A GRANDMOTHER! Seriously! Because I loved mine.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU REALLY LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF: I am not afraid to fail.
DO YOU HAVE A GREEN THUMB: Two of them! We took out all of our lawn and replaced it with raised beds and flower beds…my garden is HUGE.
HAVE YOU GONE THRU MENOPAUSE? IF SO, WAS IT HARD TO DEAL WITH: All done, and the hot flashes were the hardest part…plus I just wanted to be done. I LOVE life on this side of the hormones.
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE: I would be much more fit.
WHO IS THE ONE PERSON WHO HAS HAD THE GREATEST IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE AND WHY: My paternal grandmother – she and I had a lot in common. She was a writer, a speaker, and loved caring for others. I lost her quite early.
COULD YOU TAKE A VACATION AWAY FROM ALL TECHNOLOGY AND IF SO FOR HOW LONG: Yes, and for as long as necessary. I have a love/hate relationship with technology. Hot water and I, however, cannot be separated for even a day.
DO YOU KNIT, CROCHET, OR QUILT: Quilt! Finishing up a “honey bee” themed quilt for my new grandson.
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A TROPICAL ISLAND, WHAT 3 ITEMS WOULD YOU WANT TO HAVE WITH YOU: Soap, bug spray and a well-charged Kindle.
ARE YOU EMBRACING OR FIGHTING GRAY HAIR: Embracing. I actually love it.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN EXTRATERRESTRIALS: No.
IF A MOVIE WAS MADE OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT ACTRESS WOULD YOU WANT TO PLAY YOU? WOULD THE MOVIE BE AN ACTION FILM, COMEDY, DRAMA, HORROR, ROMANCE, OR SCI-FI: My life is definitely a romantic comedy, but I am not sure who would play me…someone with gray hair and occasional giggles.
HOW OLD DO YOU FEEL: 23, which is really great with my kids all being older than that!
WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU OR HAVE YOU GIVEN TO YOUR 18 YEAR OLD GRANDCHILD/GRANDCHILDREN WHEN THEY GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL: You will wear many “hats” in your life. Just decide what you want to do FIRST. The rest will come later, and there is no rush to make a decision about it all this year.
