Now, here’s my version:
A STORMY NIGHT
On a night like this, the only thing you can do is hunker down and pray or maybe let’s say pray and hunker down, yes, much better! The storm had been coming for hours and I hoped it would be brief and pass quickly.
Living in Alabama, we have pretty weather that is nice and warm with hot summers and mild winters, we also have tornadoes, something I will never get used to.
Night had fallen and the storm was very near. It’s scary to experience tornado weather but especially when it’s dark outside. Our local weather guy, who is top notch, was busy on the TV showing where the storm was. Then, he pinpointed its location. It was two miles away from my home! All of a sudden, the tornado siren went off down the road!!
Then, as my eyes were glued to the TV watching and listening to every word he was saying, the power went off! Only then could I hear and see the intensity of the storm! The loud roar of the wind howling, the thunder pounding, lightning streaking across the sky, and the rain pouring on the roof while hitting the windows! Now was definitely the time to pray and hunker down as I again heard the siren go off sounding it’s alarm to urge us to take cover.
Running to the closet, I took shelter inside its four walls. A few minutes passed then everything got quiet. That could only mean one of two things – we were in the middle of the tornado or it had passed us. As I sat on the floor of the closet, I noticed I was holding my breath. Just as I let out a gasp of air, the power came back on! It was over. It had passed us. Thank you, Lord!!
I’d have to wait until morning to check out any possible damage on the outside but it had passed and I was safe. Again, thank you, Lord!
