I’m a grandmother and truly enjoy with a passion being a Grammy to my precious grandbabies. There’s just something special about becoming a grandmother. When you see that little bundle of joy and know that it’s yours, that it came from your child, well words just can’t express what you feel. Of course we love our children but the love we have for a grandbaby, it’s just something you can’t explain with words. Then there’s the special bond you grow to share with them. Just puts a smile on my face as I write this thinking about my precious grandbabies.
When visiting link parties I always see posts by younger women who are moms writing about working and raising children, bringing a new baby home, homeschooling, making printouts, kiddie arts and crafts, budgeting, frugal living, meal planning, fashion, beauty, losing weight, diet plans, exercise, relations between them and their husbands or boyfriends…the list goes on.
Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way bashing them or their posts. They seem to be popular for that age group, not to say that some of those topics aren’t interesting as well for women my age and I’m in my 50s.
I could visit them and post a comment but from my perspective it would be a comment based on my wisdom of been there, done that. I don’t think they’d take too kindly me doing so, do you? Just like our grown children don’t want to take advice from us although we’re older and wiser, they have to learn for themselves. It’s always difficult to see them struggle with something and then come back later and say, “Mom, you were right. I should have taken your advice.”
Being at this stage in my life, I want to read from others who have been there, done that, and got the shirt to prove it! I want to read about women who I can relate to, women who are in my age range living their lives and things they’re experiencing during this time of their lives.
I know there are grandmother bloggers out there around the blogosphere. I’ve come across some of them and follow them on social media. There has to be more of us out there. I know that for sure.
So, where are all of you grandmother bloggers? I’d love to connect. I’m sure other grandmother bloggers would love to know about you too!
